More confessions: I am a crybaby.

Went over to my cousin's yesterday to celebrate her graduation. She had a beautiful picture of my Sami gran, in fact our shared Sami gran, also in digital form which she sent me. It is above. We figured the photo would be from the early 1930s, making my gran around twenty. If you don't think she is woundingly beautiful, there is something wrong with you. Seek help, and stop muttering under your breath, "will she ever stop harping on about that granny".

We watched old cine films shot by my uncle, some from my childhood & my cousin's, some from my uncle's & mother's.

Old films make me cry, and I don't mean Casablanca or Buster Keaton. I mean the films that have snippets from ordinary people's lives, stolen from time, moments captured, preserved, the reality of the people long since dead, the reality of the moments long since gone. It doesn't have to be people I know or am related to, either, it can be anyone.

She is indeed woundingly beautiful, and I love her big collar. Sounds like you had a lovely day, and congratulations to your cousin for graduating!

Thanks hun, I'll pass them on. We got the brilliant idea of jointly writing a Tom Waits book - she would do the writing, I would assist her in deciphering the lyrics, what with my brand-spanking-new translator status.

(The collar is out of this world, it has to be said, yes. But see her looking into the future...oh, the things it brought her, the things life brings all of us.)

Let me know if you need any help with the Waits thing. I have a certain affinity for his work.

Mr Mahti Moon, thank you, I might take you up on that. Providing my cousin doesn't (didn't) wake up today thinking it was a champagne-induced idea that should be scrapped.

You are (or at least were) here as we speak! I like it when that happens.

Tell me you understand what I meant by that, so I don't have to start to reword it. Today's not my best wording day.

I think I know what you meant, but some small, malicious part of me wants you to try a rewording.

Keep your small, malicious parts to yourself, young man, is what I always tell them...

(NB this is my sense of humour and should not be taken offensively)

I'm saving that for my next "insults of the internet" roundup.

I enjoyed the last collection.

I think this one will make a fine addition to the next round, even if I say so myself...
