Hei from nmj

I thought I'd hijack Anna MR's blog since my Finnish is so bloody good. Hei hei. Moi moi. Kiitos.

I'd never met Anna until a few days ago, but it's like we've known each other for years.

She met me off the bus and took my case and rolled it into the hotel. There are trams and cafes literally on the doorstep so it has been possible for me to experience some of this truly beautiful city.

Anna is kind and lovely and funny. Which is great as there has been some gruffness from some of the Helsinkiites. I believe Anna is writing an account over at mine right now of my encounter with a tram driver. He was SO gruff, I only stayed on the tram for three stops, then I got off at the harbour. I got on a boat, it was just leaving. I hadn't planned this. It toured all the wee lovely islands, and I saw big ferries leaving for Sweden, which made me think of my step-dad.

You've got to love the Americans: I heard a few of them today on the tram. They were talking loudly and cheerfully about all the sights they'd seen. They'd bought sweaters, they'd had reindeer sausage, they'd had daytrips to Tallinn. One guy bellowed that he'd gone to a restaurant where they'd marinated the hell out of the reindeer.

Okay, the credits are running out. Time to go.

Moi moi (nmj in helsinki)

Oh, and stupid me. I just clicked on the photo to enlarge it, looked at the position of the earth (ie at the top left of anna's blog) and where the night was coming in. Thought I'd be clever and guess the time that it was taken, assuming this would be roughly the same as when the post was published.

6pm, I estimated. I'll be clever and post that and impress anna and nmj.

Than I looked at and saw that the publishing time (17.46) is at the bottom of the post anyway. Doh! Still, not a bad guess.

Think it's time for a lie down.

Hello and hei, Pants and trousers (sorry housut, I don't mean to snub you by addressing you with your English name, but the conglomeration of legwear on this page is just too funny in its own bizarre and blogtastic fashion). Thank you for your lovely greetings on my behalf. In spite of all the Helsinki hullu's (crazies) gathering to be horrid to Ms VG Legs, I'm hoping she's having a good time. I am having an absolute laugh with her.

housut - both Ms Legs and I were very pleased with your scientifically accurate time estimate, when we read your commentary on my swanky mobile comment-reading device last night. The fact that we knew already when the thing was posted didn't hinder us from deriving great delight from your uncanny powers of deduction too.

Ms Pants - I'll come and reply to your hello to me on NMJ's once she gets round to posting her comments (well, my comments really). Oh, it's all getting a little convoluted. No matter, though. I heartily recommend a blog swap to others. It is fun in a totally random and pointless (i.e. the best) way.

Enjoy your Saturday, the pair of you

xx xx two each, because I'm giving them away on NMJ's behalf, too

Hei Ms Legs, very glad to find we weren't barred after all for our excesses (or maybe I am, you're not, who knows? We may need to investigate the matter thoroughly). Getting ready for more after hitting send on this... x

Hello back to London Ms Dark, nice to see you. Hope all is well?

Mo - NMJ made it here spectacularly well, and it is truly lovely to have met her. It is also nice to have "met" you, you are most welcome here at my house...

Signsikins - ("Ms Legs" is good, isn't it? Can't understand how come I haven't thought of it before.) Anyway, Ms Legs the Unstoppable has been zooming and zipping around town and painting it red. I can barely keep up with her...

Ah, I seeeeeeeeeeee, Zola a Clever Thing. It says "hyvää sin-again-päivää, with pronunciation key, how lovely. I shall try. But what with the nights being 0 C and the leaves turning yellow and the logs as yet unsawed, a chance'd be a fine thing, no?
