This is a non-thinking trousers post

There will be a bit of breakage in services.

A dreaded Helsinki thing is about to happen to me: the putkiremontti, plumbing renovations.

Shock. Horror. Eviction, or living in unbelievable war zone conditions.

I am choosing temporary exile in my parental home. Internet access will be random.

Don't leave me, dear virtual friends. Leave me messages of love, support, marriage proposals, jokes, cheery letters. Witty schadenfreude will be grudgingly accepted, too. But only if really witty.

On se niin väärin. I could have done without this, as I recently noticed I have had three summers on the trot without a home of my own.

I leave you with this little ditty I have been consoling myself with today: Helsinki Complaints Choir singing On se niin väärin, It's Just Not Fair, a choral piece, the lyrics of which have been put together from actual complaints from members of the public. Hope it amuses you.

Anna MR, I have been wondering about the dreaded putkiremontti, but didn't want to mention it, I kind of hoped it had been cancelled...I watched the choir complaints song, it is funny (I watched 4 mins, didn't go all the way)...btw have you seen the lovely things that Silversprite is saying about Finland? x

My complaint is that I couldn't really concentrate on the words because I was distracted by the singing and the language. I have hardly ever heard Finnish spoken and it is completely mysterious to me. And so, by association, are you.

Right. Am going to listen again.

Hey ladies, thank you for your support. This is a quick reply from an internet cafe - I am so hip and with it. This horrid state of homelessness will last till mid-September at least. Feel pity for me.

I do feel pity! Do you not even have the illusionary home of your own laptop? Sleeping rough in internet cafes is not good - however rock and roll and hip it makes you. And yes, I suppose one is quite impressed.

I have the illusionary home of a Mac Mini which cannot, for reasons way beyond the capability of Thinking Bloggers, currently be connected to the internet at the parental home. This little message comes to you from my local library. Thank god for free internet access here and there. I don't know how I'll survive the night, though - libraries close at 8.

Keep on pitying me, Peak Signs. It helps.

Anna, hope it´s going well with the parents and hope your plumbing is soon in order again.

Damn, that´s not witty. How do you delete a comment HOW DO YOU DELETE ...

Mr Z, you dare delete your comment (welcome on my wee bloggy, incidentally). It didn't all have to be witty (messages of sympathy were allowed, remember) - only Schadenfreude is to be witty.

Was that Schadenfreude? Are you, Grockular Spaniard of Yorkshire, actually laughing at my plight? That's just cruel, that is...

Til MID-SEPTEMBER! That is outrageous. What are they doing with the damn pipes? x

Still sending pity your way - libary during the day and internet cafe at night, is it?

Dear nmj, petkins, my house is ten floors high. Each floor is ca. 3 metres high, plus then additional five metres ground level etc so let's say I am 35 metres high. Each floor has four flats, each equipped with (a perfectly bloody good and functioning, v*t*ujen v*t*u!) kitchen and bathroom. Now imagine the intrepid plumber renovators ripping out each and every bathroom and kitchen, the whole effing lot (I am going to go and take photos of the carnage sometime soon, if I dare) plus all the piping leading down thirty-five metres, times four (each kitchen and bathroom). Then imagine them sitting outside having fag breaks etc. Then imagine things going wrong in wholly unexpected and terrifying ways (which they do - my friends, a couple who have two very small children, had a putkiremontti go seven months over the estimated time, so that they ended up staying at her (86-year-old) grandmother's for a total of 11 months - 11!). I kindly ask you to speak to all the higher powers of believers, non-believers, agnostics, Gnostics, Christians, Moslems, Jews, Hindus, Aborigines, etc on my behalf. I know you don't believe, I don't either. But at this stage, it can hardly do any harm either.

xx

Incredible Kärkikolmio, Ms Peak Triangle - something has worked, quite possibly via the pity front - it is incredible but

my internet connection has come alive

Lo! Hallelujah! Amen! Praise, well, someone or another.

There will be a post shortly, stating my return to the land of the blogging. I thank you for your continued support on the pity front. Maybe it will ensure I escape the above-mentioned (see my reply to NMJ) horrors. Perhaps you could even put in a word about halving the four-and-a-half months, hmmmm...?
