There's something about Tom

Well I don't go to church on Sunday
Don't get on my knees to pray
Don't memorize the books of the Bible
I got my own special way
I know Jesus loves me
Maybe just a little bit more
I fall down on my knees every Sunday
At Zerelda Lee's candy store

Well it's got to be a chocolate Jesus
Make me feel good inside
Got to be a chocolate Jesus
Keep me satisfied

Well I don't want no Anna Zabba
Don't want no Almond Joy
There ain't nothing better
Suitable for this boy
Well it's the only thing
That can pick me up
Better than a cup of gold
See only a chocolate Jesus
Can satisfy my soul

When the weather gets rough
And it's whiskey in the shade
It's best to wrap your savior
Up in cellophane
He flows like the big muddy
But that's ok
Pour him over ice cream
For a nice parfait

Well it's got to be a chocolate Jesus
Good enough for me
Got to be a chocolate Jesus
Good enough for me

Well it's got to be a chocolate Jesus
Make me feel so good inside
Got to be a chocolate Jesus
Keep me satisfied

PS Don't you find "immaculate confection" just tooooo funny? I do.

oh yes indeed there is no one like Tom

Well hello and hei and welcome, Fire Bird – I know I have seen you at the (very fair) House of Signs, and I've also lurked around at your (very fair) house from time to time; but is this your first visit over here at my humble blogabode? If it is – welcome. If it isn't – welcome, too, obviously, and apologies for my daft brain for not remembering this. It's a mental health thing, as someone very dear to me used to say (about themselves, just to be clear).

But hello, and yes, there is no one like Tom, no one at all. Although I am about to post something especially for you – and I will blame you for it in the title, too, I hope you don't mind. I am very fond of the song (which I'm about to post, just for you, okay) and do find the guy, in a sense, Finland's answer to Tom.

Although now I'm just horrified I may have posted that video already some years earlier (it's a mental, blah). But then this is my house and so I can do daft things like post the same song twice without realising, so I will try not to be just tooooo horrified.
(If you cannot understand a word he's saying, nobody can blame you. Not only is he singing in Finnish, right, but he's singing in the old Helsinki Finnish, the fabled Stadin slangi. Not even my children understand more than the odd word here and there. I know, because I have asked them and then laughed at their failures. This, I find, is the best way with one's children. (Please, they are big enough to move out – don't alert the authorities.)

It goes without saying that I do understand what he says. Translations, however, only upon very sincere and prolonged request.)

Fire Bird? I have talked a lot of nonsense to you tonight. Hope it doesn't scare you from coming back here any time, for it has been charming to find you here. Thank you and thank you again.
